Top 5 things I wish the Switch 2 had
Febuary 22nd, 2026
For the record, I do not currently own a Switch 2. It's toooooo expensive + There aren't any games that make me want to buy it besides maybe Mario Kart World. But, I have noticed that the Switch Tuah is missing some pretty critical stuff.
Number 5 - Emphasis on Miis
Miis have really taken sort of a backseat since the Switch 1 came out, being relegated to a little menu in settings instead of having their own dedicated app like on the Wii and 3DS families.
Was the failure of the Wii U, a console that heavily featured Miis in its menus and system operations, really that traumatizing for Nintendo to the point they decided to strip them of most of their niches? Come awwwn. Let them run around the main menu. They're your kids.
Number 4 - A camera app
There's a Switch 2 Web Camera. We could take selfies with the camera and add funny filters over it and save it to the Gallery. That'd be so fun.
Number 3 - A music player
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a feature where you can curate playlists of video game music and listen to them. I want something like that but preinstalled on the Switch so I can listen to Hold On Til May by Pierce the Veil on my offical Nintendo product.
Number 2 - Preinstalled Apps
Booting up my 3DS for the first time and messing around with all the preinstalled apps was magical. I'm so sad we don't have anything like them on the Switch. There is Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour but that shit doesn't come preinstalled on the Switch 2, you have to buy it from the eShop for 10 bucks. WTF? That's like if AR Games and Face Raiders didn't come with the 3DS and instead were seperate purchaces.
Number 1 - Themes (and by extention, menu music)
I want the Switch 2 to have more than "2" themes brah. Basic Dark? Basic Light? That's boring. I want a whole Donkey Kong-inspired theme with bongo noises in the background. OR HOW ABOUT A RETRO WII THEME WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL SOUND EFFECTS? That'd be amazing and I think Nintendo would make billions of dollars if they sold these in the eShop for like, a dollar. No, I have a even better idea: add them as bonuses for certain games.
Nintendo please hear me out and don't force me to be greeted with deafening silence every time I fire up my Switch.
Can you tell I really like the 3DS?
