About Baseball:

To put it simply, the main goal of the sport of baseball is to score more points, or "runs", than the opposing team. The game takes place over 9 innings, which are further divided into "top" and "bottom" half-innings.

Each team takes turns defending and batting, and at the end of the half-inning, the teams switch places. A pitcher from the defending team throws the ball to a batter from the opposing team, who must try to hit it far enough so that the defending players can't catch it and successfully run around the field and back to first base to score a run for their team.

If the defending players catch the ball or the ball is thrown to first base before the batter can get back to first base, that batter is out. A batter can also be called out if they fail to hit the ball three times in a row. This is called "striking out".

If the batting team gets 3 outs, the half-inning ends.

Each player on a team is assigned one of nine positions. pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, shortstop, left fielder, center fielder and right fielder.
