Smartphones and MP3 Players
BlackBerry 8830 World Edition
Release: 2007
Probably the oldest phone I own. It needs a new battery and the microSD card slot is broken.
BlackBerry Curve 9330
Release: 2010
The rubber buttons have fallen off and I need to find a replacement housing. Loved playing Brick Breaker on this thing when I was a little grub.
Apple iPad Mini 1st Gen
Release: 2012
Found in an e-Waste bin. Whoever tossed it didn't bother to remove their Apple ID before doing so, so it is stuck on the "Activation Lock" screen. I cannot contact whoever owned this iPad before me to remove the lock because I don't know who threw it away, and I can't preform a factory reset on this device either because Apple devices are locked down like Fort Nox to "prevent theft".
That means the iPad is basically a brick until somebody finds a way to bypass the lock.
Apple iPod Nano 7th Gen
Release: 2012
I've had this thing for quite a while. I don't remember how or when I came into ownership of it. The screen is showing its age, for there are noticable lines on the screen.
My biggest gripe with this device is that you have to use iTunes to load songs onto the device instead of just, dragging and dropping them onto the device like a normal MP3 player.
I've tried other programs to get songs onto this device without iTunes simply because I do not want to be forced to use Apple's software and, sadly, they all didn't work. So I have to do this big song and dance with iTunes every single time I want to add music onto this device, which is annoying. Otherwise, It's perfect for when streaming music isn't an option. I've loaded my CD rips onto it.
Apple iPod Touch 6th Gen
Release: 2015
For someone who hates Apple, I sure do have a lot of Apple products-- Ahem. This "phone" I got in either 2017 or 2018 was my daily driver for middle school and part of high school. It was terrible as you may have expected. I couldn't use cellular data so I relied on free WiFi hotspots to do anything outside the house.
Later in 2020 probably, my family changed cell carriers and got new phones, and now that iPod sits collecting dust in my phone box. Occasionally I take it out to toy with it and look at memories. I've jailbroken it with Chimera and I boot it up once in a while to play with the few apps and games I've installed that still support iOS 12.5.7.
If only there was something like LineageOS but for Apple products. Hmmm.
Apple iPhone 7
Release: 2016
My second daily driver until 2022. A major step up from a dinky little iPod that coudn't even make phone calls. I have memories of playing Cookie Run: Kingdom on it. The phone would heat up to uncomfortable levels and occasionally the game would crash and boot me to the home menu. I also played a lot of My Tamagotchi Forever on it. That game sucked and I hated it, but it was all I had before I got my hands on some actual Tamagotchi toys so I accepted it. At least the minigames were fun.
Currently, I've misplaced it somewhere around my house and don't know where it is.
Samsung Galaxy S21+
Release: 2021
My current daily driver. Very nice phone I can do just about anything I want on.
Laptops
HP Compaq Presario CQ70
Release: 2009
Found in the shed. It clearly hasn't been used in a decade and is visibly beaten up. I do not have the charger so I can't find out if it even still works or not.
From what I can tell; It runs Windows Vista, but if the laptop still works and supports it, I would like to upgrade it to Windows 7.
HP ProBook 450 G3
Release: 2015
Another mythical e-Waste bin pull. Sadly I did not get the power adapter in the gacha pull.
Lenovo ideapad 330-15IKB
Release: 2018
I'm typing this from my ideapad. This laptop was dug out of the basement and ran Windows 10, horribly. At one point, I accidenly broke off the tip of the charger. It sat under my bed for months afterwards until I decided one day that that it would pair nicely with Linux Mint. I got a new charger and later upgraded the 4GB of RAM it had to 12GB. I use it every day with almost no issue besides the dismal battery life.
Desktop Computers
HP 20-c013w
Release: ????
My daily driver desktop from 2017 until 2024. Ran Windows 10 Home on 4GB of RAM, a recipe for disaster. Grinded to a halt when I had something as basic as a Firefox window open. I've had to reinstall Windows 3 different times for 3 different reasons. One night I had enough and installed Linux Mint onto it. Then later I reinstalled Windows and dual booted Debian.
It currently has Windows 7 Ultimate installed on it, acting as the machine I use for when I need to run legacy Windows-only programs. I might put Fedora Linux w/ XFCE on it in the future.
