Amico Corporation, doing business as Amico is a global tech conglomerate founded in 2001 by Damion Rex.

Amico is one of the largest, if not the largest tech conglomerate in the world. Some of their services and products include various social media sites, a search engine, an online storefront, their own proprietary OS, IoT devices and most recently, a generative AI everything-app, Amico Amy.

History

2001-2013

Amico was originally founded back in 2001 to serve as a hub for creatives to show off their work. Users could set up personalized portfolios and share them with others. The site quickly exploded in popularity as artists of all trades, skill levels and walks of life flocked to the site to show off their talents. It originally competed with DeviantART before eventually surpassing it in terms of usership and daily visits by 2009.

In 2011, Amico would buy out two flegling sites, an online storefront and a video-sharing site originally meant for short films and animations and rebrand them as Amico Market and Amico Theater respectively.

2016-2024: Rebrand, growth and expansion into consumer electronics

In 2016, Amico had a major rebrand, slowly phasing out the creative-focused features like portfolios and replacing them with personalized timelines and modular userpages. This was done out of a desire by Damion to make Amico more widely accessible and appealing to everyone, not just one group of people. This new value was reflected in the site's new tagline: "A place for everyone."

These changes drove out original userbase but brought in tons of new users who sought a fresh, non-toxic alternative to sites like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The site caught on with younger millennials and older members of Gen Z and Amico's userbase more than tripled.

In 2017, Amico bought out several smaller companies, mostly their struggling competitors. This included a smartphone manufacter. The following year, Amico introduced the Amico Ace line of laptops and AmicOS, the proprietary operating system that would run on them. They were affordable and very high quality for the price, meaning they were accessible to people on a budget and to school districts. By 2020, AmicOS was the 3rd most widely-used operating system in the world.

By 2020, Amico.com had become the 5th most visted site in the world and its parent company had grown to be the largest tech conglomerate in the world.

2025-present: Amico Amy and Web4

Amico Amy is a generative AI everything-app released in August 2025. It provides multiple services, such as a dedicated feed for AI-generated content, tools for producing various kinds of AI-generated content, and customizable, user-generated chatbots.

Development of Amy began in 2022 so Amico could cash in on the GenAI Craze of the mid-2020s. Initialy, Amy was trained on public social media posts and books which Amico bought in bulk, made digital scans of, then shredded. This first version of Amy was deemed "too predictible" by Amico higher ups, so Amico decided to build a new "Innovation Center" in an undisclosed location.

At this Innovation Center, Amico was secretly doing unethical experiments on people in order to make Amy more "human-like" and to make their products more addicting so that users relied on them more. The victims of such experiments included homeless people they lured in with promises of employment and outspoken company critics, including seasoned journalist Kate Novo. Their brains were removed and used to create the wetware severs that powered Amy and Amico's other internet services.

Amico was able to keep all of this a secret by way of hush money and threats. Anyone who attempted to reveal the truth about Amy, became a part of Amy.

At the 2025 editon of their annual developer conference, Amico Next, Amico announced "Web4", Their plans for a future internet intergated with "hyper-intelligent AI", which would start with intergated Amy-generated code into the main Amico site.

What was not disclosed at this conference was that Web4 was part of a larger plan by Damion to take complete ownership of the entire Internet, all Internet-based services and the data of billions of people. With this data, Amico would then create a global database of people and track their every move on and off the Amico-owned internet, essentially creating a global surveillance state.

On top of that, Damion, who has become obsessed with the idea of becoming "God" after talking for hours on end with Amy, is trying to find ways to merge his consciousness with hers. So in the event that Web4 comes to fruition, Damion would be able to observe everyone's single move and "punish" them for stepping out of line.

Trivia

  • The hex code of the shade of orange used in Amico's branding and wordmark is #f75a42. This color was chosen for its warm, inviting feel by Damion.
